District-Wide Supply List will be used again this year. If additional items are needed for your grade level, then the grade-level chair will submit a PROPOSED Additional Supply list to Carol. All items are not guaranteed.
Student iPads: (Mrs. McDavid)
This is an instructional decision that was made by my executive director. Because we are back in school five days a week, students do not need to transport devices home for distance learning. Devices will remain in classrooms unless students are receiving distance learning due to district change in instructional models or quarantine. Make sure you label USB Power Adapter Box & cord with student name.
3rd & 4th SC Ready & SCPASS Tutorial:
Resources for SC READY/SCPASS to help students and teachers become familiar with the DRC INSIGHT online testing platform in advance of testing. These include:
· A series of short Online Testing Video Tutorials
· An Online Tools Training (OTT) module.
- SC Ready / SCPASS Online Testing Preparation for Students 2021
- See Assessment Page on Coaches Corner Weebly for additional resources.
Updated versions of these resources are now available for use in preparation for spring testing. As a reminder, all students testing online should complete the OTT and Online Testing Video Tutorials prior to the first day of testing. Make time and place this on your lesson plans now.
Science Kit Trainings (Kim Inman) -
All teachers that are new to a grade level should sign up for the last rotation of science kit trainings in True North Logic. These trainings will continue to be held virtually. However, the time has changed to 3:15-5:15 to allow facilitators and teachers a little more time to transition after school. Click HERE to see the list of sessions with times and dates along with session numbers to make signing up in True North Logic easier.

Subject: HCS 11th Annual Technology Fair - 2021
Good Afternoon,
We are very pleased to announce HCS will be hosting the 11th Annual HCS Technology Fair this year. However, this year, the event will be a fully virtual platform. For the 11th annual event, we know things will look much different than they have in the past but we are very excited about the opportunities this platform will allow for all of our students to participate. This year, we will be using a software platform where students and teachers will log on to a website, register as a participate and follow on screen prompts for registration. They will then be provided what are called milestones to use as checkpoints as they complete the project submission process. All projects will be completed by video submission and will be judged by our community judges over three days. We will then announce the winners online and send each student winner his/her medal and awards to their school.
As in the past, students will need to have a teacher sponsor to enter the event. The teacher sponsor's purpose is to be the contact person for the student and be the person at the school responsible for assisting with the process of registration, communication, and uploading of the project. For now, I am sharing this email and all other information with school tech contacts until a teacher sponsor (or two) for each location is identified. Please share this information with your teachers.
While this may seem late in the year to be thinking about the technology fair, please consider all the work you have been doing that is already technology-based. Please carefully look over the categories for this year and think about the work you or your students have already done and how that work can be modified to make it into an entry for the HCS Technology Fair. This event is meant to showcase the fantastic work that is being done all year long.
This year your students will not need to create a tri-fold display board because the entries will be uploaded to the digital platform (not a Google platform). Entries, however, will have to be video recorded and uploaded. There will be more information coming about the upload process. There will be a location to upload any supporting documents for the project, such as slideshows/slide decks, photos, word documents or PDFs, and other items that may be needed to explain or support the entry.
Information you need to know:
Finally, If you need any assistance with equipment for recording projects, please let me know. We have some resources available and some green screen kits we would be happy to assign to your school if needed. Please let me know how we can assist you and your school during this process.
I will be sharing more information as soon as the digital platform is ready. Until then, you may begin working on the projects and promoting the 11th Annual HCS Technology Fair to your students and parents. Please let me know if I can assist you in any way.
Thanks,
Ashley Gasperson
