SLC Updates/Reminders-Jeanna Allen
NEW - Replacement of 400 Series Projectors with Promethian Activpanels (Mark and Missy Johnson) - Our school is scheduled to be included in the first round of installation of new Promethean ActivPanels. Promethean ActivPanels will replace the projector as well as the existing SmartBoard. Removal of 400 series projectors and installation of Promethian ActivPanels will take place this summer. Missy Johnson will provide us with information regarding which classrooms this first round of ActivPanels will be installed. The following number of panels being installed in the first round:
Growth Incentive Day: This is a special day for teachers to plan a FUN day. Games, movies, treats are encouraged. The Intervention team is planning to have our EOY celebrations with our groups on Friday, May 27th. We will be pulling our students at their regular intervention time Science (Kim Inman) Kim Hudson at the science center is retiring at the end of the month. She has worked with many of you and your teachers in supporting science instruction with materials for years. If you have worked with her and would like to send her a message, I’m sure she would love an email or kind message. She’s very private and doesn’t want a big fuss made about her retirement, but I’m sure an email of kindness would make her day. Her email is [email protected].

NEW - Extra IDRA Coaching Opportunities for Schools (Lee James and Melissa Westbury) The following IDRA Coaching opportunities have been entered into TrueNorthLogic. These opportunities are available for any teacher in need of completing their 5-hour yearly coaching requirement. Teachers can register for any of the following sections in TrueNorthLogic. Sessions are set to release in TrueNorthLogic on Friday, May 20th at 8:00a.m.
Summer Learning Camp Updates (Jeanna and Andrew Ball)-
NEW - Kagan Summer Sessions Update (Jill Jeter) - (see image below on April 25th) Clarification The June 7-10 session of Kagan Cooperative Learning is intended for our current staff members. We will be offering three sessions of Kagan Cooperative Learning Days 1-2 in July as an option for new teachers. The DIBELS 8 End of Year (EOY) window opens Monday. Use this link for DIBELS 8 EOY Reminders. New - Grade 1 MAP Testing (Heather Sheehan) - The Grade 1 MAP testing window will be open until May 27. To be in compliance with ACT 1.96, grade 1 students must take both the ELA and Math Assessment. Students should take the MAP Growth 2-5 Test. NEW - S.C. R2S Third Grade (Spring Link) Promotion/Retention (Jeanna Allen) - Please begin to finalize your LAP and GCEx forms with parent conferences and signatures. NEW - DreamBox (Andy Midgette, Dreambox Representative) - If you’re looking for a last push to boost DreamBox usage this year, take a look at our new Math Challenge On Demand. This is a monthly math challenge that your teachers can sign up for that encourages more DreamBox engagement with the chance of winning prizes. For Military Kids (Lisa Bourcier via Dr. Maxey) - On April 6, 2022, Governor Henry McMaster will proclaim April as the Month of the Military Child or “Purple Up! For Military Kids” in South Carolina to celebrate students whose service member parents serve and protect our country. I hope that schools around the state will support “Purple Up! For Military Kids” by planning special activities and wearing the color purple, especially during Military Family Spirit Week, April 18–22, 2022. Read to Succeed Educator Coursework (Jeanna Allen) - Pre-enrollment for Summer 2022 coursework will close in TN Logic on Friday 4/8 22 at 5:00 p.m. This Read to Succeed Teacher/Educator Endorsement Requirements link provides additional pertinent information. Also, even though we will not receive direct feedback from the TDA, teachers and students can use this activity as a moment to reflect on how students handle the task.
Science (Kim Inman) Thank you for all your hard work with the Science textbook adoption! The majority vote went to the board on Monday. TWIG is our new approved district science program. Be sure that you are taking time to review skills that students are still struggling with in an effort to help them meet end of year benchmark goals.
