Third quarter grades must be posted in gradebooks by midnight on March 26. Gradebooks will be locked at 8:00 a.m. on March 27.

Third Quarter Ends Thursday, March 23 (Mark) -
The third quarter will come to a close on Thursday, March 23. Please take time the next few days to look carefully at gradebooks in an effort to circumvent any issues prior to the issuance of progress reports. The current date for issuance is Friday, March 31. Students at risk of retention must have a statement on the third quarter progress report and a parent conference scheduled and documented in PS.

Kagan Cooperative Learning Days 1 and 2 in June (Jill Jeter) -
Cooperative Learning Days 1 and 2 will be offered June 12 and 13. The workshop will be held at the District Office in room C300 from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Teachers can receive exchange days or recertification points for attending. They do not have to sign up for both days, but they have to have taken or be signed up for Day 1 to take Day 2.
Courses will open in True North Logic this Tuesday. The course number is and 32715 and Day 1 is section 42150 and Day 2 is 42151.

Science Kit Pickup
First and second grade science kits are to be ready for pick up on March 17. The drivers will begin pick up at 8AM on March 20. Please remember any missing kits are the responsibility of the teacher to return to the science center. Don’t forget to make sure any long-term substitute teachers are aware of this to ensure all materials are returned to the center at the right time.

- NEW Resource: Growing Fluency in grades 3-5: Reader’s Studio Workstation. Check out this creative way to get elementary students authentically practicing their oral reading fluency, expression, and pacing while creating a listening station for our younger readers! Listeners in grades K-2 can then “rate” the storyteller on their expression and voice!

March 18 is South Carolina Day. Since March 18 is a Saturday this year, we are to recognize this day on Friday, March 17. Take this opportunity to celebrate our state!

- The public schools shall observe Calhoun's birthday, the eighteenth of March of each year, as South Carolina Day and on that day the school officers and teachers shall conduct such exercises as will conduce to a more general knowledge and appreciation of the history, resources and possibilities of this State. If such day shall fall on Saturday or Sunday the Friday nearest to March eighteenth shall be so observed and if any school shall not be in session on such date, the celebration may be held before the close of the term. The State Superintendent of Education shall suggest such topics or programs as he may deem appropriate for the celebration of South Carolina Day.
