Message from the Technology Department – Guest Wi-Fi (Velna Allen) -
The Technology Department has been receiving numerous calls about HCS-Guest network being turned off in the schools. Technology does not want to hinder anyone from doing their job to educate the students; however, we also do not want to overuse the Guest network. Since the beginning of school, HCS-Guest network has been number two on total bandwidth usage. Currently our bandwidth is at its maximum capacity. We have asked the State to increase our bandwidth and are hopeful that they will approve the increase. With so many non-essential devices ( iPhones, Apple Watch, Android phones, other personal devices, etc.) using the Guest network, this has caused issues with testing, classroom instruction, Wi Fi connection, etc. To relieve some of the unwanted traffic, Technology will only enable HCS-Guest access in Office Lobby area, Gyms, Mini Gyms, Media Center, Auditorium, TSA/Tech Contact office and Cafeteria.

- TDA Prompts: As we prepare students for our November TDA, please make sure you do not use the following prompts for instruction. These will be the ones we will use as our district prompts:
- 3rd Grade: The Rhinoceros and the Bird
- 4th Grade: Trekking the Trail
- 4th Grade GT: The First Time I Saw Michelle
- Dreambox: If you feel the need to change the grade level for students in Dreambox (highly not recommended), you must talk with the coach in their building and discuss whether it is the best choice or not. If the best choice is to change the grade then coaches will need to contact me or Meagen Cox to gain access to the person they must contact at Dreambox to make the change.
- MAP Accelerator: MAP Accelerator will offer training sessions next week for lead teachers and coaches. The sessions begin next week and will continue into November (choose one to attend). All Dreambox and MAP Accelerator sessions are virtual.
- GT ELA District Meeting Days: Our 2nd session of GT professional development days will be as follows: 3rd Grade - Nov. 8th, 4th Grade - Nov. 9th. Please make sure you sign up for your appropriate day in TNL and secure your own sub.
