Third Quarter Ends March 24 (Mark) -
The third quarter will come to a close on Thursday, March 24. Please take time to look carefully at your gradebooks in an effort to circumvent any issues prior to the issuance of progress reports. Students at risk of retention must have a statement on the third quarter progress report for parents. The current date for issuance is Friday, April 1.

3rd Grade LAP information
Please be reminded that the following steps are required during the 3rd Nine Weeks for LAP students (January 18-March-24)
Please be reminded that the following steps are required during the 3rd Nine Weeks for LAP students (January 18-March-24)
- Administer Spring MAP during the March 14-April 1, 2022 assessment window.
- LAP front pages will be matriculated for any newly identified 3rd graders based on their most recent MAP data.
- Determine the students who are not demonstrating grade level progress after Spring MAP and Dibels Assessments for possible Summer Reading Camp participation.
- Schedule a conference with parents of students on radar for retention by the end of 3rd nine weeks. (no later than March 24th)

Summer Learning Camp Teacher Application Information
Teacher Application Process and Summer Learning Camp Information - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Teachers who are interested must ask for a recommendation from Mrs. McDavid first.
A fully complete completed application form along with resume and sample lesson plan PDF's are due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022.
PLEASE NOTE: The applicant's resume and sample lesson plan MUST be uploaded as a PDF during submission. Therefore, it is recommended that the applicant have those files ready for upload prior to beginning the application submission process. No applications will be accepted after 4:00 p.m. on March 25, 2022
Teacher Requirements
-Teachers must have highly qualified status as defined by NCLB, Read to Succeed literacy endorsement, or have documented and demonstrated success in helping students comprehend grade-level texts.
-Teachers must be certified in early childhood and/or elementary education.
-Once the application is complete and submitted, a recommendation from the applicant's current principal will be requested.
Summer Learning Camp Site Information
One Summer Learning Camp site has been designated in each attendance area as follows:
-Aynor Elementary
-Burgess Elementary
-Carolina Forest Elementary
-Conway Elementary
-Loris Elementary
-Myrtle Beach Primary
-Socastee Elementary
-Waterway Elementary.
Summer Learning Camp Program Dates and Teacher Work Hours
-Summer Learning Camp 2022 Teacher Professional Development and Planning: June 7, 8, and July 14
-Teacher Hours 7:00-2:30
-The program you are applying for requires face-to-face instruction at a Summer Learning Camp site.
-Weekly instructional planning will be required. Time is built into the workday for planning.
-Students will attend Monday-Thursday beginning Thursday, June 9 and ending Wednesday, July 13.
-Camps do not operate on Fridays.
-Student Hours – 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Summer Learning Camp Student Dates
-Week 1: June 9
-Week 2: June 13-16
-Week 3: June 20-23
Week 4: June 27-30
Week 5: July 6-7 (No camp on July 4th and 5th)
-Week 6: July 11-13
Summer Learning Camp Logistics
-Breakfast and lunch will be provided to students.
-Teachers will be compensated at a rate of $50.00 per hour.
-All teachers will teach reading and math.
-While the application asks for site and grade level preferences, preferences cannot be guaranteed.
Teachers who are selected will be notified on or before April 29, 2022.

- Please review the 2021 SCReady ELA 3-5 Data Report. The items identified from this review panel are items that we see students in HCS struggle with as well. Discuss with you grade level a plan to work these concepts into instruction so that they are authentic experiences not lessons taught in isolation.
- REMINDER: April 7th will be our district wide TDA SCDE Field Test. Please make sure all students in 3rd - 4th grades have multiple opportunities to explore the Online Training Tools website so that the format of the test will not be unfamiliar to them. 3rd grade students will be expected to take this field test online- there will not be a paper/pencil option for the field test.
